A little Refugee fun

Well, I've been meaning to put this post up since last year :)
(that's fun to write)
But we've been busy and I haven't gotten time until now.

Last Sunday we had some glorious weather (upper 40's) After eating, most of us young people played Rachel's Christmas game (Apples to Apples)

We had a lot of fun. But with the weather being so nice,
we started going stir crazy!

So what's better than going on a walk with awesome friends?
(I can't think of much)

It had rained the day before and melted most of our 2 ft. of snow, but then got just cold enough to leave what was left with an ice coating (which made for some great fun)

With it being slippery, some of us had a harder time staying on our feet than others...

And I should note, that the only reason I fell, is because Reid
decided it would be "so kind" of him to run and launch himself onto my back
piggyback style! :P
No one was seriously injured (a few scratches and bruises
and for us older ones a little joint pain)
I had so much fun! It almost made me wish for weather like that
for another week... Almost

After our fun on the ice we ventured into the woods. We had heard a few gunshots earlier so just in case I took a safeguard to ward off any hunters from shooting us!

We were 'sooo quiet' ;P he could have easily mistaken us for a deer herd or something! (do deer even come in herds?)

But with caution tape on a stick we figured we'd be safe :)

We walked to the end of the trail and came to a creek. My high hopes of it being frozen to had been dashed a ways back by hearing flowing water... With all the rain the creek was swollen so we couldn't pick our way across the usually shallow water.

I did find a tree though, it had fallen across the creek and made a great bridge! The water beneath us was only about 2 ft. deep, but if we had fallen (or our rotten tree had broke) it would have been an awfully cold, LONG walk back.

Thank goodness none of us did fall in!

Here's Joschi looking as cute and photogenic as ever.
We took a vote and decided to throw Reid in!
(to see if the water was wet...)
We never really threw him in, the parents called right as we were going to and said to come straight back, some of them wanted to go home :(
Alright everyone! Single file, and make it quick!
Here we are, trying to get back across as quickly as possible
so that none of the ones who needed to leave would get in trouble.

Even with everything mostly dead brown and no snow to cover it
there is always beauty around us.
Red berries always look so pretty, but more so in wintertime
when there isn't much color.

Thankfully the adults were gracious to the children and nobody got in trouble for being back late!
And then we went and witnessed...
(da da da daaaaaa)

The EXTERMINATION of the princess phone.
it was not a pretty sight
