Day Three

Monday morning was super sunny as well! We got started a little

bit earlier too! Our plan was to do a little souvenir shopping and then

hit the beach again, but in a spot further down. Fine by me!

One of my Mom's favorite things about being in Texas (besides the warmth)

was the palm trees! Probably because they are so much different from

any tree we have here, but still. And we were so blessed! We had palm trees

all around our condo!Right after I took the picture of the palm tree, I turned off the camera, stepped back

1/2 step and got stung by a bee :(

And of course it took me forever to be able to finagle the stinger out... :/

This was a really neat shop. And it was a Christian place too!

How cool is that!? They had tons of Christian shirts, books, jewelry, all sorts of stuff!

And the outside was so cool! :)

Oh! And they gave out free ice cream samples, and free little shell necklaces!!!

Ahhhh! Girls I told you to watch out for sharks!!! Why didn't you listen to me!?!
Dad! Not you too!!!

Oh, and Dad fully enacted his revenge on the stingrays...

He was so excited to find a dead stingray on the beach! And as the

day went on we found 5 or 6 more, all dead up on the beach.

I guess there was a really cold spell 2 weeks before we went to Texas and it

killed a ton of stingrays and they were washing up on a bunch of beaches.

It was quite a surprise to be walking along looking for shells (which Marge and

I did a LOT of) and almost step on one though!! :P

G'day folks!

Day Two! Finally...

Yes yes, I know, FINALLY!!! I've been procrastinating blogging about

the rest of our trip, and now, 3 weeks later I figured it was about time...

:D Sunday morning dawned (and believe me, for some odd reason I actually

did see the dawn every morning! Maybe it was the bright sunshine...) so sunny

and warm. It was a great start to a wonderful week! We got a somewhat

slow start to our day, skipped church, did a little shopping and then went to

the beach! :) Ah it was wonderful! (Please don't get tired of me using that word...

I may use it quite a lot in these next couple of posts!) Dad and Mourey had their

coffee outside on the balcony off of the main room just about every morning.And I couldn't stop staring at the sun...
To help start our week off right, Marge gave us all some Sweet Tarts!
She had found a really good deal on them at the store and got TONS of them :D

When we got to South Padre Island, the visitors center had this really cute

sand sculpture. I can't even imagine how long it must have taken to create

this thing!!

This is literally how we spent almost all of Sunday...

Except for looking for the van around lunch time...

We "lost" it and it took us about 1 1/2 hrs. to find it. We had walked the beach

quite a ways but forgot where we had came in at. OOPS!

Lets just say by the time 1:30 rolled around we were quite hungry...

The waves were transfixing and mix that with the sun, sand, and warmth...

Can you say PERFECT!?

Dad and Mom wanted to make sure we got a family picture...

It's a good thing they made us take it the first day, because although

we figured we'd take so many pictures during the trip, we really didn't get a whole

ton of group shots or anything.

:) I like this one a lot! It's quite typical and I think it portrays us all very well.

And then before going home we figured out how to get to this other beach where

there were probably at least 50 people out flying kites. It was so cool! And

wow, those WinterTexans really get "in" to their kite flying!

This one was one of my favorites to watch. It was all connected together, but

looked like it was a bunch of separate ones.

Okay, my blog posts are not near as impressive as Rachel's facebook albums... But here you are! I'm documenting our trip on here. And feel special, because I'm talking to you! Not the whole facebook community :D

Hmmmm...

Okay, I'm such a slacker...
I've decided that I'm probably just going to wait to blog about this trip
until we get home. There's so much to do that come night time I want
to read my book or something and don't really want to be on the
computer, so, you'll just have to look on facebook or wait SORRY!

Oh, and good job Wolfgang for remembering to give Kathrin a hug :)

Day One :)

Well, I figured we should start at the beginning... So here's the sunrise :)

Beginning is relative... I didn't show you pre-makeup or guzzling coffee shots :P

What a beautiful sunrise it was. I wish a picture could capture what my eyes can see...Next stop was at Julie, Lewis, and Hannah's house! Lewis chauffeured us to O'Hare

and saved us a tense ride... Oh, and he drove us in the limo! He drives one part time...
Thank you Thank you Thank you Lewis!!

After takeoff. The sky was SO blue! Landed in Dallas waiting to leave for Brownsville.

Hahahahaha...And literally, as soon as we got into the airport Marge and Mourey met us.

They were 'hiding' right around the corner as we came out the door and

with huge smiles on their faces. :D

Well, the first day was a success!

Oh, it's magnificent to feel a breeze and not have it be deathly cold.

I'm not wearing socks right now... :D

Big Day for a Little Man

Okay, okay. Yes we're in Texas and you were probably expecting a post about

that... But, I'd started this one first so I'm going to post this and then get to
Texas later. It's wayyyy overdue so I figured I should post it while I had it set up :)

Our cousin Cainen had his first birthday on Christmas Eve! And a few weeks

later we were invited to his birthday party! He is such a precious little guy...

Here was his "to share" cake.

Ooohhh yummy! He dug right in and enjoyed as much of the cake as they let

him have! And was stained red for a few days afterwards I'm sure...
